Mahindra Readying Mini Bolero Compact SUV
Indian carmaker Mahindra is readying the fourth compact SUV in its range after the KUV1OO, TUV3OO and the NuvoSport.
According to Autocar India, Mahindra is planning to introduce a brand new compact SUV that will be based on Mahindra's extremely popular Bolero SUV.
Powering the new 'mini' Bolero will be Mahindra's tried and trusted 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that will be detuned to help it achieve better mileage but will still produce 68hp, five more than what the current Bolero's 2.5-litre turbo diesel produces.
To help the Bolero squeeze under the four-metre mark, Mahindra will trim quite a bit of the front and rear overhangs. However, the wheelbase is expected to remain the same meaning that Mahindra will be able to fit a third-row on to the SUV (similar to the ones found on the Nuvosprt and the TUV3OO) which can be folded up to store any extra luggage.
Inside, the mini Bolero is expected to carry an almost similar package to the current full-sized Bolero and is expected to offer the same dashboard. The mini Bolero is expected to be offered with the same equipment levels that are found in the full-sized SUV as well.
