Mahindra Confident On Bringing Racing To India By 2017
Recently, Mahindra Racing announced a competition for its fans around the world. It consisted of designing a race track design, which could be used in the Formula E Championship. Now the possibility of an Indian ePrix happening by 2017 has increased.
Formula E officials have confirmed that Hong Kong will be a destination on the 2017 calendar. Mahindra Racing wanted officials to organise an Indian ePrix during 2016 Championship itself. There is a possibility that either Sydney, Montreal, Las Vegas, New York, or Brussels could also be included in Formula E Championship.
An official announcement for season 3 of Formula E is expected soon. The Indian ePrix is being planned for sometime during March or April. Formula E races are contested on city roads and Delhi is most likely to host the very first Indian ePrix in 2017.
In 2017, Formula E will be into its third season and is growing from strength to strength every year. An Indian ePrix will be a moment of pride for the country as well as for Mahindra who is part of the clean and green racing Championship.
Currently, Bruno Senna and Nick Heidfeld are part of Mahindra Racing's driver line-up. Both drivers have not been able to achieve desired results and could be shown the door. Senna has been with Mahindra from season one itself while Heidfeld joined the Indian team during the 2016 Formula E season.
