Mahindra Patents Quadricycle Concept To Rival Bajaj Qute
Indian automaker Mahindra has patented a quadricycle concept based on its Gio Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV).
The Gio based quadricycle is expected to be a rival for Bajaj's Qute quadricycle which is currently on sale in international markets.
The Gio LCV based Quadricycle is expected to be powered by the same engine used on the Mahindra Alfa three wheeler.
The 395cc diesel engine produces 7.38bhp and 16.7Nm of torque in the Alpha but those figures are expected to increase when the engine is slotted into the new quadricycle. The engine will be mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
The Gio based Quadricycle is expected to weigh in at under 500 kilograms and is expected to return a mileage of 40km/l.
Design wise, the new Quadricycle retains the looks of the Gio with its boxy front end. The only major change is the addition of a rather sloping roof that will make headroom a bit of an issue for the passengers sitting in the rear.
The only image of the new quadricycle reveals the lack of a rear door on the driver's side which could mean that the quad is a three or two door vehicle which in turn could lead to issues for passengers trying to get in and out of the rear section of the vehicle.
