Mahindra & Mahindra has been teasing the launch of several new electric vehicles for the Indian market. At the 2016 Auto Expo, they once again showcased their e-Verito model. It is now confirmed that their electric sedan will be launching on June 2, 2016.
Powering the Mahindra e-Verito will be a 72V electric motor. The electric motor is capable of developing 40.44bhp, along with 91Nm of torque output. The Indian automobile giant claims their electric sedan will have a range of 100 kilometres on a full charge.
The e-Verito will be available in three variant options by Mahindra. Base variant is the D2, while mid-variant is the D4, and top-most trim is the D6. Only the D6 variant will be offered with quick charging. On an average, it would take eight hours for a full charge and only six and a half hour with quick charging.
In terms of design, the Mahindra e-Verito looks similar to their Verito sedan on offer. No visible exterior changes will be noticed, except for the e-Verito badge. There is a possibility that Mahindra engineers could make the sedan lighter to cope with their electric motor.
Being an electric vehicle the e-Verito by Mahindra will benefit from the Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric vehicles (FAME) Scheme. We expect the electric sedan to cost at a base price of Rs. 6.5 lakh. Stay tuned for more details from Mahindra and its upcoming products.
