Mahindra Quanto Or The Mahindra Cresto/Canto Facelift Spied
The Quanto facelift has been photographed testing again, the new vehicle could be named Canto or Cresto. This could make its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 to be held in Greater Noida from February 3. The spy shots reveal a new grille with LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights), new bumper, bonnet with air-scoop and probably new body panels.
Mahindra will power the car with m-Hawk 80 3-cylinder diesel engine that produces 83 bhp and 230Nm of torque, which powers the TUV300 in place of the older engine. This will be mated to 5-speed transmission box and probably a five speed automatic. The export models have been previously offered with the 2.2 litre engine with the option of a 4WD, this could be continued.
One of the first compact SUV to be launched in India, failed to impress the customer as Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport beat it fair and square. Now, Mahindra wants to capitalize on the new engine platform, the m-Hawk 80, as it has seen a good response to the KUV and the Scorpio vehicles. All variants will be offered with five-seater and seven-seater options, this will depend in the market the car will be launched.
The company has been aggressive in its offering after moving third place in the top three manufacturers in India, pushing Tata Motors away from the third spot. Looking to bank on the popularity in the market right now, they will try to push for the compact SUV with an aggressive price tag to counter the Duster and the Ecosport.
