The Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), a part of the Mahindra group has launched its Blazo line of trucks in the state of Karnataka. Mahindra launched the Blazo 25 Tipper And the Blazo 37 trucks at the event. Prices for the Blazo range start at Rs. 20 lakh and stretch all the way up to Rs. 35 lakh.
The Blazo series of heavy trucks include haulage, tractor trailers, and tippers, all of which are fitted with Mahindra's FUELSMART Technology.
Mahindra is giving customers who buy the Blazos two guarantees - Superior mileage and 48-hour 'Back On Road' Service Guarantees.
Mahindra has guaranteed truckers better mileage compared to the current trucks they drive. Truckers can return their Blazo trucks to Mahindra if they do not deliver better mileage.
The second guarantee offered is the 48-hour 'Back On Road' Service which ensures that trucks will be serviced and back on the road within 48 hours or else the customers will be given Rs. 1,000 a day as compensation
The Blazo line of Heavy Commercial Vehicles all use the same 7.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine which comes with 3 driving modes - Turbo, Heavy, and Light, something usually found on cars.
The Blazo 25 Tipper's 7.2-litre engine produces 274hp and 950Nm of torque which is sent to the wheels through an Eaton 9-speed manual gearbox. The fuel tank on the Blazo 25 can hold 250 litres of diesel.
The Blazo 25 Tipper can reach an electronically limited top speed of 60km/h. The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the Blazo 25 is 25,000 kilograms.
The larger Blazo 37 uses the same 7.2-litre diesel engine but in a different state of tune. The engine produces 220hp and 800Nm of torque in the larger truck, which is sent to the wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox from Eaton. The Blazo 37's fuel tank can hold 350 litres of diesel.
The Blazo 37 is electronically limited to a top speed of 80km/h and has a GVW of 37,000 kilograms.
Mahindra also announced seasoned Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn as the face of its Blazo campaign.
