Maharashtra Government Will Not Tax Electric Vehicles Soon
The Maharashtra Government is making a conscious effort in the implementation of electric vehicles. The FAME (Faster Adoption & Manufacture of Electric vehicles) Scheme is also expected to boost sales of cleaner and greener vehicles.
Now, the Maharashtra Government takes a giant leap, by not taxing electric vehicles sold in the state. There will be no Value Added Tax, Registration Tax, and Road Tax applicable of purchase of an electric vehicle in Maharashtra.
The announcement of not taxing electric vehicles in Maharashtra was made by Piyush Goyal, Union Power Minister. An official announcement regarding the same can be expected within a few days. Customers can take advantage of the scenario and purchase an all-new electric vehicle in the state.
Mahindra is the sole Indian manufacturer offering an electric four-wheeler in the country. The e2o is priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai) for the T2 premium variant. Current pricing includes FAME Scheme incentive and will be a lucrative buy without taxes.
The Indian automobile manufacturer plans on expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in the country. An all-new electric sedan and LCV model is expected to be launched in India soon by Mahindra. With the odd/even vehicle rule in Delhi, electric vehicle sale is expected to pick up.
