Toyota's luxury car brand Lexus is finally set to enter India in September and will be making a rather eco-friendly debut.
The Japanese carmaker has a lineup full of hybrid SUVs and sedans and it will arrive in India behind the wheel of the 2016 ES 300h hybrid sedan. The 2016 ES series made its debut at the 2016 Shanghai Motor Show.
The ES 300h is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle and works in tandem with an electric motor that draws its power from a 650V nickel-metal hydride(Ni-MH) battery.
The engine and motor combine to produce 200hp and 470Nm of torque all of which is sent the front wheels through a CVT gearbox.
The ES 300h weighs in at 1,670 kilograms and features a 65-litre fuel tank. The ES 300h returns a mileage of 17km/l.
With regards to style the ES 300h features the rather gawping mouth that has become the family face of the Lexus brand. Flanking the grill are two rather angular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Underneath the headlamps, on the front bumper are the fog lamps.
The main feature of the rear end of the car are the sharp looking taillamps which feature L shaped graphics.
Inside the Lexus ES 300h features oodles of leather and wood along with the latest in infotainment and safety features.
The Lexus ES 300h is expected to be priced at around Rs. 50 lakh at launch.
