Lexus To Enter Indian Market With Three Models By This Year End
Toyota owned Lexus is all set to make its India debut, as per the reports the Lexus will be entering the Indian market with three models by this year end.
Lexus will launch its RX SUV, the ES Sedan and the RC-F Coupe. Lexus will also have its exclusive retail outlets in the country. The Hybrid version of the ES sedan might also be launched in India.
The RF-C Coupe is expected to be launched with a price tag of over a crore in the Indian market.
Exclusive Lexus dealerships will be opened in New Delhi and Mumbai. In the course of time, the dealership network will be expanded across the country.
All the models will be imported to the country as Completely Built Unit. The pre-bookings for all the models is expected to begin before this year end.
The RX 450H hybrid SUV is powered by 3.5-litre V6 engine and an electric motor which produces 308bhp. The engine is couple to a CVT gearbox.
The hybrid SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 40 to Rs 50 lakh and will go head on with the likes of BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Lexus will be also launching its LX450D SUV in India. This SUV model is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Apart from the SUV, Lexus also plans to introduce the luxury sedan the ES300H which is only available as a hybrid variant.
Toyota has been looking to launch the Lexus brand in India for quite some time. Back in 2011, the firm announced its plans to bring Lexus to India by 2013. But things did not fall in place due to rigid Indian tax structure. And now Lexus is finally gearing up to enter the Indian market.
It will be interesting to see what kind of response the Japanese carmaker gets in the country and how Lexus will cope against the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.
