Lewis Hamilton Surprised By His Podium Finish In Belgian GP
Lewis Hamilton was himself, surprised by his podium finish in Spa, Belgian Grand Prix . Having started from the back of the grid, Hamilton never expected such a strong result.
Hamilton was handed over several penalties, due to engine changes, and had to start the race in 21st position. Whereas his teammate and his championship rival Nico Rosberg started the race from pole position.
But the race was filled with drama. Incidents happening as early as in the first lap itself. And further, the race was red flagged. This helped Hamilton, to pass through the group of drivers, from the back of the grid.
Hamilton admitted that, without the safety car and red flag, he would have only managed to finish in the top ten. And if the tyres were better, Hamilton would have even pushed for the victory.
Rosberg went on to win the race, and reduced the gap to just nine points to Hamilton, in the driver's championship.
