Land Rover Plans New Engine For Range Rover Sport For India

Most of the utility vehicles (UVs) are expected to be offered in diesel engines; however, with the recent trend, most of the manufacturers are offering petrol versions as well. Land Rover is considering the petrol powered Range Rover Sport.

Recently, Land Rover imported a single Range Rover Sport which is powered by the V6 petrol engine for homologation.

As of now, Land Rover offers thepetrol-powered engine in the Range Rover Sport SVR with the 5.0-litre engine indicating the company is looking to bring the petrol-powered Range Rover.

The model imported to India is the HSE trim and it comes powered by a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine. The motor is capable of churning out 380bhp of power and 450Nm of peak torque.

Taking care of the gearbox duties is the eight-speed automatic and sends the power to the 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system as a standard fitment. This supercharged motor sprints the Range Rover Sport from 0 - 100km/h in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 209km/h.

As for the design and features, there are no major changes and will come same as the diesel-powered version.

The Range Rover Sport will continue to feature the 360-degree parking aid, adaptive cruise control with queue assist, and intelligent emergency braking, park assist with rearview camera, and powered gesture tailgate among others.

The SUV will be seen furnished with theHeads-up display, INCONTROL Touch Pro, which comes along with TFT instrument panel.

In India, the Range Rover is currently available in the 3.0-litre diesel mill which punches out 255bhp and 600Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which sends the power to the 4WD system.

Also, the current available model can sprint from 0 - 100km/h in 7.6 seconds before reaching top speed of 209km/h. A petrol-powered Range Rover Sport will be a good addition to the portfolio of Land Rover.
