22k Discovery Sports & Evoques Recalled By Land Rover
Land Rover has recalled 22,657 vehicles registered in the United States due to transmission problem. The recall is for company's smallest and least expensive models Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.
The recall is specifically for 2015 Discovery Sport manufactured between September 17 and November 3,2014, and Range Rover Evoque built between July 15,2013 and July 1,2015. Some of those vehicles have issues with the transmission sensors.
The issue is that the sensors whose wire harnesses may not have been crimped closed. Due to this issue, it could result in the vehicle automatically shift into neutral. This increases the risk of a crash or mechanical failure.
Land Rover has asked owners to bring their Discovery Sports and Evoque to local dealerships to have the serial numbers checked. The problem will be a software issue and flashing the software may eliminate this issue. The process is slated to start on October 14,2016.
