Mahindra Bolero Sales Beaten By KUV100 - Is The SUV Losing Its Charm?
The Mahindra Bolero was the company's best seller for years. It was also the best selling SUV in India for a long time. Now, the Bolero has lost the 'best selling mahindra' title to the new kid on the block, the KUV100.
During May 2016, the KUV managed to sell 4,446 units, which is 27 units more than the Bolero. This could hint that the trend is changing from big SUVs to more city friendly vehicles. The KUV100 is targeted towards the youth.
Also, the lack of sales of the bolero could be the outdated design and the lack of even basic features such as AC controls (the AC mode controls). But again, the issue could be because of the Size as well, since the Bolero is quite big to be used in the city on a regular basis.
Coming back to the KUV, the compact crossover is powered by a choice of either a three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol or a diesel engine. The petrol motor produces 82bhp and 115Nm of torque, while the petrol engine makes 77bhp and 190Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox that is mounted on the front dash of the Mahindra KUV100.
