Karnataka State Road Transport To Be Equipped With 6,000 More Buses

6,000
new
buses
will
be
added
to
the
four
state-run
transport
corporations
by
March
2017.
Ramalinga Reddy was addressing the media after launching 70 new ‘Karnataka Sarige' buses at KSRTC Shantinagar bus depot. It's the first time Eicher has provided ‘Karnataka Sarige' buses to the state transport corporation.
According to officials. These new Eicher buses will provide better mileage compared to other buses. Normally KSRTC buy buses from Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland in the ordinary category.
Ramalinga Reddy explained the bus procurement process, as all the major companies had participated in the tender. But after taking all aspects transport utility decided to go with Eicher buses.
The new Eicher bus costs Rs 19.20 lakh per unit, with a mileage of 5.8kms per litre of diesel. By next year KSRTC will procure 1,594 more buses. Reddy also said that transport to the rural areas will be given more priority.
