Kevin Magnussen To Replace Maldonado For 2016 Renault F1
Renault will be making its comeback to Formula One Championship as an independent constructor for 2016. It seems like the French-based manufacturer wants to start its journey completely fresh. Two new drivers will be behind the wheel of the 2016 Formula One car.
Pastor Maldonado was most likely to retain his position in the team, however, his inconsistency may have caused him a drive. Kevin Magnussen, who had an amazing rookie year with McLaren will be behind the wheel of an all-new Renault model.
Magnussen drove the McLaren Formula One car only for a single year. He had to make way for Fernando Alonso who was joining the new McLaren Honda project. Kevin Magnussen was retained as reserve driver for McLaren, however, by Championship end, he was released to pursue his dream to race in Formula One.
Kevin Magnussen will be partnering with Jolyon Palmer for the 2016 Formula One Championship. Both drivers will make their debut with Renault at an official event showcasing its new livery. A special unveiling event is scheduled for February 3, 2016, in Paris.
Formula One is expected to get more interesting in the 2016 Championship. Several manufacturers will be working hard to compete with the dominant Mercedes. Honda and Renault have to make up maximum ground as they did not have a perfect season last year.
