The Jeep Renegade has been spotted testing in Tamil Nadu. The vehicle was seen accompanied by the Skoda Yeti.
The Renegade spotted is suspected to have a 2.0L Multijet diesel engine. The 2.0L variants sold in other markets are available with a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox as well.
The FCA's Indian subsidiary had said that the Renegade is too small for Indian market. It appears to be testing the hardwares and the powertrain that will be shared with the upcoming Jeep C-SUV.
The C-SUV would be larger than the Renegade but both will share the same platform. The jeep will be introducing the C-SUV in India and Brazil by 2018.
The premium crossover will be produced at FCA's Ranjangaon plant near Pune and it will be exported to other markets.
Production is expected to begin by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
