Jeep has been teasing an Indian launch for a while now. The American-based SUV manufacturer officially showcased several of its models at the 2016 Auto Expo. Only the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee models were on display at the Indian Motor Show.
Recently, the Renegade SUV by Jeep was caught testing in the city of Mumbai. The compact SUV was in complete camouflage and was previously imported for R&D reasons. So far, there is no information if and when the Jeep Renegade will launch in the Indian market.
Under the hood of the Jeep Renegade being tested in Mumbai is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. Performance figures are not available at the moment, however, it is expected to be on par with competitors. Both manual, as well as automatic gearboxes, will be provided.
Once the Jeep Renegade is launched in India, it will compete in the compact SUV segment. The Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, and Hyundai Creta will surely give the Jeep Renegade a run for its money. In terms of pricing expect it to be priced slightly higher than its competition.
