Jeep Launch In India Confirmed For August 31st
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles* owned Jeep brand is all set to launch in India. The company has confirmed the Jeep brand will launch in India on August 31.
For now, the details are limited; however, the official Jeep-India website line-up has information of three vehicles: the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler Unlimted, and Grand Cherokee SRT.
Even though we expected Jeep to bring the 3-door Wrangler to India, the company has decided to go with the 5-door version.
In India, the Wrangler will be sold only with a diesel engine and the transmission options will be limited to an automatic gearbox with a manual 4x4 option.
The Grand Cherokee, on the other hand, will be offered in two variants: the base variant, 'Limited' and the top-of-the-line 'Summit'.
The official Jeep India website also teases the Cherokee SRT which is powered by a 6.4-litre V8 Hemicuda petrol (475bhp) engine. If launched, we expect Jeep to sell the Cherokee SRT in limited numbers.
The American car manufacturer also has other SUVs in its portfolio that are expected to reach Indian shores within the next few years. The first will be the Jeep Renegade, which is currently being tested in India with the codename "C-SUV".
Expected starting price range of Jeep models in India:
- Wrangler Rs. 25 to 35 lakh
- Grand Cherokee Rs. 35 to 45 lakh
- Grand Cherokee SRT Rs 75 lakh onward
