The refreshed Jaguar XF sedan was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Now, sources suggest that the manufacturer is getting ready to launch the car in the second half of August.
The XF will be the one among three cars that Jaguar had on the cards for this year. The XE and F-Pace were the other two the company had previously teased.
The updated XF will be replacing the current generation model which is sold in India. The car will be constructed on a new platform that uses aluminium as a major element. This will favour for weight reduction and the overall weight now tips to 1,687kg.
Jaguar claims that the new platform will also help the mid-sized sedan achieve better driving dynamics. The new XF is expected to be more spacious on the inside, thanks to its 2,960mm wheelbase, which is larger than its predecessor by 55mm.
In the interior, the major changes will be the dashboard that has been completely redesigned. The XF will also get a steering wheel that is identical to its larger cousin, the XJ.
The seats offered on the new XF will be more premium and comfortable than ever before. Jaguar will be offering a 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro system with 10GB of onboard storage on the top-of-the-line XF.
On the exterior, the XF will only be getting minimal cosmetic updates such as the black grille, new wheels, and a redesigned bumper. The car will also feature adaptive full LED headlights.
Once launched, we expect the XF to be sold with petrol as well as diesel engine options. Jaguar might offer the new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine that produces 180bhp and 430Nm of torque. The engine will be offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The petrol variant is expected to be using the same 2.0-litre engine that can produce 240bhp of power and 240Nm of peak torque.
Jaguar is yet to reveal the price of the updated XF in India, while the current generation is sold at Rs. 51 lakh ex-showroom.
