Jaguar Puts New XJ To The Test In Mumbai Dabbawalla Delivery Challenge
Jaguar tested the upcoming XJ with InControl Touch Pro on the busy streets of Mumbai by taking on the dabbawalla delivery system.
The dabbawallas depend on a relay of complex systems involving trains, buses, bikes and foot, to deliver home cooked food to a large number of workers in Mumbai. Their delivery methods are cost-efficient and environment-friendly, they hardly depend on technology or even cell phones and yet mistakes are extremely rare.
To test their new InControl Touch Pro navigation system, Jaguar took on the dabbawalla challenge by giving one dabbawalla the chance to ride in the new Jaguar XJ, while his rival dabbawala followed the traditional delivery methods.
This test was carried out on a course designed to ensure close competition even with the road congestion in Mumbai. The new InControl Touch Pro Navigation system enabled the Jaguar XJ to move through the never-ending Mumbai traffic with ease.
The dabbawalla delivery system is said to be impossible to beat, But the XJ managed to reach the destination before the dabbawalla because he got stuck for a few minutes, due to a delay in the train network. In the end, it was the InControl Pro navigation system that helped the Jaguar XJ win the challenge.
