Hyundai Tucson India Launch Date Set — Time For Some SUV Fireworks?
Korean carmaker Hyundai is all set to ignite an all-out war in the SUV segment by launching the Tuscon in India in October.
The launch of Tuscon is expected to happen close to Diwali and the SUV will be the second new vehicle launch from Hyundai in India in 2016 after the recently launched sixth-gen Elantra.
The new Tucson was first showcased in India during the 2016 Auto Expo in February and the SUV on the show floor featured a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 136bhp and 373Nm of torque. The engine was paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai is also expected to bring a petrol powered variant of the Tucson to India. While there is a 1.6-litre petrol engine available for the SUV in international markets, Hyundai is expected to bring the 2.0-litre engine found on the Elantra to India. The 2.0-litre engine produces 150bhp and 190Nm of torque in the Elantra .
Hyundai is also expected to bring in automatic gearbox variants of the Tucson to India due to the rising popularity of vehicles with automatic gearboxes among Indian car buyers.
The Tucson is also expected to borrow a few more features from the Elantra sedan including the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, and the ventilated, electrically adjustable front seats.
