Hyundai India's second offering for 2016 the Tucson will be launched on October 24, 2016. The first launch on 2016 for Hyundai was the Elantra premium sedan in the country. Select dealerships in Mumbai have begun the bookings for the Tucson.
As per sources, booking amount of Rs 25,000 is being accepted at select dealerships though unofficially. Also, potential buyers can get to view the Tucson; however, test drives are not being provided as of now.
Some of the Hyundai Tucson have been imported to India for homologation and are available in select cities in India.
Hyundai has showcased the Tucson at the 2016 Auto Expo and the SUV is one of the most awaited SUV in the country. This comes as no surprise with the successful Hyundai Creta which has created curiosity among people not just in India but in other countries as well.
The Hyundai Tucson name is not new to India, it was previously available before it was pulled down about five years ago. The new Tucson SUV has come back looking sharper and with contemporary styling.
Providing power to the Tucson will be a 2.0-litre petrol mill churning out 150bhp and 192Nm of peak torque. The petrol which is seen on the Elantra sedan will be paired with the 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
As for the diesel unit, Hyundai could bring the mill which is seen powering the Tucson in the international market.
This engine is a 2.0-litre producing 183bhp and a solid 400Nm of peak torque. The oil burner could be offered with the 6-speed manual or the automatic gearbox.
Taking on the rival such as Honda CR-V and the Skoda Yeti, the cost is expected to be in the range of Rs 17 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. Hyundai Tucson will sit in between the Creta and the Santa Fe.
