Hyundai Motors To Launch AH Model To Rival Renault Kwid
Hyundai Motors plans on introducing several new models in popular segments. Currently, their smallest car on offer is the Eon compact hatchback model. Now the Korean manufacturer plans on introducing a model that will compete with the likes of Renault Kwid and other models in the segment.
The Korean-based four-wheeler manufacturer has codenamed its project model as the 'AH'. Hyundai Motors is most likely to launch the AH model in India and several other markets as early as 2018. A target of achieving one lakh sale unit within a year will be placed on the AH model.
There is a high possibility that Hyundai will use the same engine that powers the Eon. A 0.8-litre and an optional 1.0-litre, a three-cylinder petrol engine will be under the hood of the AH model. Hyundai Motors could also provide its small car with an optional AMT system adding more value to the package.
Renault provided its Kwid compact hatchback with a crossover stance. The Kwid is also attractively priced, which has aided in tremendous sales in India. Hyundai designers will take the same route and provide the AH model with a crossover design philosophy.
Once launched the Hyundai AH will have tough competitors in the Indian market. The Renault Kwid, Datsun Redi-GO, and Maruti Suzuki's Alto 800 will be tough rivals. Maruti Suzuki also plans on revamping its Alto 800 model with a crossover like design language.
