Hyundai’s New Elantra Receives 405 Bookings — Has The Era Of Premium Sedan Begun?
The new Hyundai Elantra was launched on August 23, 2016, the executive premium sedan has received bookings of more than 405 units and 7,817 enquiries within eight days of its launch.
In the crowded market of SUVs and crossovers, the enthusiasm for the premium sedan is overwhelming indeed. Hyundai's Elantra has a legacy of 23 years which was introduced back in 1990 and it has been agood driver in terms of acceptance over the last five generations.
The all-new Hyundai Elantra is a step away from Hyundai's fluidic design language and is a lot sharper and sleeker. On the powertrain front, the 2016 Elantra has a brand new 2.0-litre petrol engine along with the 1.6-litre diesel engine seen in the Hyundai Creta and the Verna.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine churns out 150bhp and 190Nm of torque and returns a mileage of 14.6km/l. The 1.6-litre diesel unit develops 126bhp and 265Nm of torque. The engines feature two drive modes: Eco and Sport and is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Currently, the new Hyundai Elantra is available at an introductory pricing of Rs 12.99 lakh for the petrol and Rs 14.79 lakh for the diesel variant. Both the prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
