Hyundai Is All Set To Launch An Automatic i20
Hyundai is planning to launch an automatic version of the i20 in India. The automatic i20 will be offered with a petrol engine.
The automatic version might be powered by a 1.4-litre petrol unit that makes a maximum power of 97 bhp. The standard manual gearbox equipped in i20 petrol comes with a 1.2-litre engine that delivers 81bhp of power.
The gearbox on the i20 petrol AT will be a four-speed torque converter unit. This engine-gearbox configuration for the i20 petrol AT has been in production at Hyundai's Indian plant and it was only for export markets till now.
The i20 AT will compete with the other automatic versions like the Honda Jazz and the MarutiBaleno, both of which come with CVT gearboxes.
With the launch of the i20 Automatic, Hyundai will expand the line-up of automatic cars in India. The Creta SUV with a petrol engine is also available with an automatic gearbox and the all-new Elantra has been launched with an optional automatic gearbox for both petrol and diesel engines.
Bookings for the i20 petrol AT will be starts sometime around mid-September.
