Powering the 2016 Elantra is a brand new 2.0-litre petrol engine along with the 1.6-litre diesel engine found on the Creta compact SUV and the Verna. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 150bhp and 190Nm of torque and returns a mileage of 14.6km/l. The 1.6-litre diesel engine produces 126bhp and 265Nm of torque.
Both engines feature two drive modes: Eco and Sport and are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Design wise, the new Elantra sees a total design change from the previous-generation car's 'fluidic' style.
The new car looks more refined and sharper, with sleek headlamps (with integrated LED DRLs) flanking either side of a 5-slat hexagonal grille. On either side of the front bumper, sit boomerang shaped enclosures, which house the round fog lamps.
At the rear, the Elantra features swept back tail lamps, that seem to be split into three different segments by the graphics. The Elantra sits on 16-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, the design of the dash is centred on the driver. The car features an 8-inch HD infotainment display with either Apple Car Play or Android Auto along with Bluetooth connectivity. The front seats are ventilated and come with 10-way power adjustability.
The Elantra is available in five different colours: Polar White, Marina Blue, Sleek Silver, Red Passion, and Phantom Black.
