Hyundai Creta Petrol Engine With AT Launching In India Soon

Hyundai Motors India was among the first manufacturers to provide a compact SUV with a diesel engine and automatic transmission. Now in an attempt to boost sales further, the Creta with a petrol engine will also be equipped with an optional automatic transmission.

The 1.6-litre petrol engine in Hyundai Creta will be mated to an optional automatic transmission. Hyundai Motors India also plans on offering it's automatic transmission in other trim levels as well to make it more accessible for its buyers across the country.

Expect the pricing of the Creta with automatic transmission to increase substantially. Approximately the price of the compact SUV with automatic transmission will increase by one lakh over regular trim options. The 6-speed automatic transmission by Hyundai with a petrol engine will attract several buyers.

Previously, the Hyundai Creta AT had no competition in the Indian market. Renault recently provided its Duster compact SUV with an optional AMT in India. The AMT system is cheaper and thus permits Renault to price its compact SUV competitively against upcoming rivals.

Apart from the Creta, Hyundai Motors could provide its automatic transmission to a few other models. There is a high possibility that Hyundai will equip its premium hatchback the Elite i20 with an optional automatic transmission as well. Stay tuned for more updates from Hyundai Motors.
