Raj Nair Explains How Ford Chose 500 Lucky People To Own The New Ford GT
Just as 'special' as the new Ford GT, the manufacturer had asked the individuals interested in purchasing a 2017 Ford GT to fill out an online application to one.
To add to its controversies, Ford only allowed 500 people to buy one, informing them via letter.
Ford has chose to be selective when choosing the buyers of its supercars. The automaker received over 6,500 applications, for a supercar that will be built just 500 units in number.
Celebrities such as YouTuber Shmee150 and electronic music Deadmau5 earned a spot on the exclusive list. But not everyone were luck enough to be elegible for one.
In an interview, Raj Nair, head of product development and Chief Technical Officer for Ford, revealed that the majority of the people who were selected to get the new GT's are actually people who had owned a GT before.
Nair also claims that, 69 percent of the selected applicants owns a previous generation GT.
Nair also added that they Ford will be making "more deserving applicants happy," while those deserving applications would be roughly 4,000 individuals that own the previous generation GT.
