The base variant of the Honda Mobilio was crash tested by the Global NCAP and the result showed a stable structure and received zero stars ratings for the adult occupant protection. The Japanese automaker requested the Global NCAP to test the Mobilio with the dual airbags in order to show the benefits of these safety systems.
The variant with the dual airbags at the front of the Honda Mobilio scored three-stars from the Global NCAP for adult occupant protection. Global NCAP's observation was that the protection for the driver and the passenger's head and necks were good.
As for the driver's chest protection was marginal and passenger's chest protection was adequate. The impact on the passenger's knees could be bad with dangerous structures on the dashboard. The bodyshell of the Mobilio was rated as stable and can withstand any further loadings.
The child occupant protection for a 3-year-old received two-star ratings by the Global NCAP and found that it was not able to prevent excessive forward movements during the crash. Also observed was that the instructions on installation of the child seats were insufficient and not permanently attached to the seats.
