The Japanese carmaker Honda is a popular name worldwide when it comes to economy cars. Now, Honda is speculating to launch a new 7-seater SUV, reported as will be based on the HR-V, at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) later this month.

The new SUV is being developed at Honda's Thailand research facility. The SUV is targeted mainly for the Asian markets, including India. Amidst the growing demand over the SUV segment, Honda had already launched BR-V, which is a progressive step towards continuing the trend.

Honda stated that the new SUV will be an entry-level model, equipped with better ground clearance and sleek, stylish design. Honda is also expected to stuff in all the essential safety features.

Honda, in a recent statement said that the growth in the SUV segment is significant and this trend will continue. With the Honda BR-V going head on with the likes of Hyundai Creta, the expected HR-V will take on compact SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, and the Mahindra TUV300.
