Honda Likely To Suspend Production Of Mobilio
Honda looks set to to suspend production of its only MPV, the Mobilio, due to a steep decline in sales.
The Mobilio was launched in July 2014 and quickly started racking up good sales numbers for Honda. Within a few months it hit the 3500 mark. However, sales of Honda's first MPV in India have nosedived now, as Honda sold only 441 units in January. February was even worse as the Mobilio was bought by only 226 customers.
According to ET Auto, Honda may have another motive to stop producing the Mobilio. With the SUV market growing rapidly in India, Honda looks all set to launch the BRV SUV in India by the end of May. Stopping the production of the Mobilio may ensure it doesn't eat into the sales of the new SUV.
The Mobilio will still be available in Honda showrooms across the country as Honda does have quite a stockpile to clear out before it can think of restarting production of the MPV.
