Honda Confirms Ninth Death Due To Takata Airbags

Honda has confirmed a Honda Accord a July crash of a Honda Accord lead to the rupturing of a Takata airbag inflator and likely lead to the death of a young underage driver. The death is the ninth one linked to rupturing Takata airbag inflators.
Honda inspected the vehicle's components in cooperation with regulators. After the inspection, Honda stated that it had "confirmed that the Takata driver's front airbag inflator ruptured" and the "injuries related to this airbag inflator rupture likely resulted in the tragic death of the underage driver."
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said last week that the death took place in July in a recalled used 2001 Honda Accord coupe.
