2016 Paris Motor Show: Honda Civic Type R Concept Revealed — The Craziest Civic Of All Time?
Japanese carmaker Honda has surprised everyone at the 2016 Paris Motor Show by unveilling the unhinged Civic Type R concept.
The Civic Type R Concept is based on the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback which will go on sale early next year.
The Civic Type R Concept is based on the upcoming 2017 Honda Civic hatchback which will go on sale early next year.
Powering the new Civic Type R is an uprated version of the current car's 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 306bhp. The new car is expected to produce around 340bhp.
Design wise, the new Type R is as aggressive as they come.
The front end has been tweaked and features wider air intakes, smoked LED headlamps and an air scoop on the bonnet.
At the sides, there are new carbon fibre skirts, while the flared up wheel arches play host to 20-inch alloy wheels which are shod with 245mm wide performance tyres.
At the rear, the fixed wing is even more massive and best of all in the middle of the rear bumper sit three exhaust pipes with the centre pipe seemingly smaller than the ones flanking it.
Honda say the new Type R will be produced at their Swindon factory in the United Kingdom from where it will be imported to international markets including North America for the first time ever.
