Honda To Import Accord Hybrid Against Every booking Made In India
Honda Cars India plans on launching its Accord Hybrid sometime during October. Bookings for the Accord Hybrid have commenced at certain dealerships. Now, reports suggest that Honda will be importing the Accord Hybrid based on customer demand.
Currently, Honda plans on offering the Accord Hybrid via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. So, Honda officials will only import Accord Hybrid models against every booking made. There will be no surplus and customers could witness extended waiting period for their vehicle.
The Accord Hybrid is Honda's sole hybrid offering in the Indian market. It's only competition in India is the Toyota Camry Hybrid which benefits from CKD (Completely Knocked Down) pricing. Once Honda Accord Hybrid is launched in India expect pricing in excess of Rs. 30 lakh ex-showroom.
Powering the Honda Accord Hybrid will be a 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, with two electric motors. Internationally, Honda offers the ninth generation Accord with two petrol engines. Honda is unlikely to bring regular petrol engines to India as the quantities would not justify the pricing.
