Google’s Driverless Cars Are Cop Friendly
Google is developing a sensor for driverless cars to automatically detect any Police vehicles nearby, with this sensors an autonomous driving car can identify any approaching Police car and can alert the car to give way or pull over to be investigated.
This new technology was revealed in a US patent filing, Google is developing a system which can identify emergency vehicles flashing lights. The sensors will be programmed to recognise red or blue colour, as well as flashing lights.
With this technology, self-driving cars will be able to manoeuvre by itself according to the situation. It can also detect other emergency services such as ambulance by learning different light patterns.
Driverless cars are expected to eradicate traffic accidents in future, and also save travel time by avoiding congestion on the road. Google has been always in the frontline when it comes to autonomous technology.
With the development of new technology, autonomous cars are expected to take centre stage in future years. Autonomous technology industry is speculated to be worth 900 billion euros worldwide by 2025, and is currently growing at a rate of 16 percent a year.
