General Motors revealed the base price for its all-electric car Bolt to be priced at $37,495 (approx. Rs 25.13 lakh) which is slated for launch later this year. The price is nearly 7 percent more than Tesla's upcoming Model 3 which is priced at $35,000 (approx. Rs 23.46 lakh).
Tesla is expected to ship the Model 3 until late 2017. Both the cars, the Bolt and the Model 3 will benefit from the federal tax break and will come cheaper with a credit of $7,500. With this both the cars will come under the $30,000 bracket.
As for the features of the Chevy Bolt will come with standard features like the rear vision camera, a 10.2-inch colour touchscreen, a steering wheel paddle which lets the driver brake and to regenerate the battery.
The higher or the premium variant of the Bolt will include extras like leather seats, front, and rear heated seats. Also seen are the surround camera and rear camera. The Bolt electric car will have a driving range of 383kms on a full charge which is 10 percent more than Tesla's Model 3.
With the price and the availability known about both the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt, GM might have leaped ahead in the availability and the endorsement of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Tesla's Model 3 is expected to be available to customers by July 2017 which could be a deterrent; however, the 400,000 customers have already deposited for booking the mass-market Model 3 confirming that they are ready to wait for the electric car from Tesla.
