German GP Likely To Be Dropped From 2017 Formula One Calendar

The Hockenheim, German GP is ruled out of the 2017 Formula One calendar. German GP was re-introduced to Formula One Championship, it was dropped in 2015.

Formula One officials had announced a provisional calendar for 2017 Championship. Now, reports suggest that the Hockenheim, German GP is being removed from 2017 calendar. Circuit organisers and Bernie Ecclestone could not reach a consensus.

A special deal was prepared for Hockenheim, German GP during 2016. Promoters do not want to pay the total amount to host the 2017 Formula One GP. Omission of German GP is sad, however, it is not surprising owing to the huge amount required to host a Grand Prix.

Germany has hosted a Formula One GP since 1960, however, it was dropped from the calendar in 2015. Now, once again the German GP is off the 2017 Formula One calendar. Sale of Grand Prix tickets and television viewers as well has been the reason for officials not keen on hosting a race.

So far, there is no confirmation of another venue being added to 2017 F1 calendar. The 21 destination calendar could be reduced to 20 races during 2017 season. We are sure the drivers would appreciate one less race, however, they will be sad to know the German GP is being dropped.
