Hyundai To Build All Electric Luxury Sedan
Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Company is planning to launch a fully-electric luxury car bearing the logo of its luxury marque, Genesis.
The current Genesis line features the G90 and G80 sedans that use conventional petrol engines (a diesel version of the G80 is expected next year) and the new electric car will help Hyundai diversify the lineup of its Genesis luxury brand.
Former Lamborghini director and the current Vice President of Genesis Manfred Fitzgerald, spoke to reporters at the 2016 Busan International Motor Show at the unveiling of the G80 sedan, about the upcoming luxury electric vehicle (EV).
Fitzgerald said, "We will definitely go as Genesis brand down the road of alternative propulsions and it is very, very obvious that EV is definitely on the map. I think full electric cars will be the future in the auto industry."
Genesis unveiled the G80 sedan at 2016 Busan Motor Show, a car that will compete against the likes of the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series.
