Formula One’s New Safety Feature, Halo Cockpit To Go Under Scanner Again
FIA is keen on testing the Formula One's latest safety feature, the Halo cockpit. This new safety add-on is set to take effect from 2018. As there was not enough testing carried out this year, it was postponed to 2018.
Now, this Halo device will be tested at free practice session of Belgian GP, this weekend. Mercedes, Toro Rosso and Force India, will run their cars with the new Halo device fitted.
FIA has urged all teams to try out this new feature as part of testing, to implement Halo Cockpit in 2018.
Till now only Ferrari and Red Bull have tried this Halo concept in their cars. So, it's good to see other teams following the same. Nico Hulkenberg said that, they will be running this device on their cars, for only a brief period of time in free practice.
He further said, "To get a proper read and understanding you need to run it longer than that, but tomorrow is only a first impression and a first read so there is more to come later in the year."
