Ford Mustang Becomes Best-Selling Sports Coupe Globally
According to the IHS Registration data, the Ford Mustang is the best-selling sports coupe in the world. Since its launch, the American carmaker has sold 1,10,000 coupes globally, despite the fact that the car was available in limited numbers in key markets such as China and the UK.
Over 16,600 customers have ordered for the Mustang in Europe and in Germany, the V8 engine was the preferred choice by customers. Ford sold 399 Mustangs in France during the first quarter of 2016. The Ford Mustang was the best-selling sports coupe in markets such as China, Australia, and New Zealand.
In March, Ford sold 12,563 units of the Mustang in the US, outselling competitors such as the Dodge Challenger and the Chevrolet Camaro combined. Both cars combined, sold 12,248 units. The Mustang was the best-selling sports coupe in the US through the first quarter of 2016.
The Ford Mustang has been the best-selling sports coupe in Canada, and has outsold the Camaro since 1985. Mexico registered strong growth as Ford recorded a growth of 176 percent for the Mustang, compared to 2014.
The Ford Mustang was showcased in India some time ago, and when launched, could be the most affordable sports car available.
