Ford EcoBoost Engine Wins 5th Engine Of The Year Award
The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine from Ford has won tons of accolades from various critics. Now the popular engine has won the International Engine of the Year Award. Ford has won this award for five years in a row, and is considered as the best engine under 1.0-litre.
Currently, Ford India offers the EcoBoost engine option only in the EcoSport compact SUV. The American-based automobile manufacturer claims that the engine delivers a fuel economy of 18.9km/l under ARAI testing. The EcoBoost option is available only in Trend+ and Titanium+ variants.
Ford's EcoBoost 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine produces 124bhp, along with 170Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The EcoSport with the EcoBoost engine weighs only 1,258 kilograms, which is light for a compact SUV.
As of now, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is on offer in 72 countries. Other markets also get a 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre, and 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engines. More powerful 2.7-litre and 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost engines are also available from Ford.
