The 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks are known for its brute performance and strong pulling power, but only a few are aware of the innovative technology that is hidden under the bonnet. It is the adaptive steering system.
The adaptive steering technology is a very simple system, which includes an electric motor and control unit housed within the steering wheel, it multiplies the steering input up to 30 percent and reduces steering effort to around one full steering wheel rotation.
This system can be used in both in hydraulic and electric-assisted systems. This technology was also equipped in Ford Edge Sport crossover which uses the electric-assist system, whereas the Super duty trucks utilize the hydraulic system.
With this system, the maneuverability of the vehicle will be enhanced resulting in improved overall driving experience. The adaptive steering technology will also be implemented in other models in the future.
Here is a video which demonstrates the adaptive steering technology from Ford.
