Force India Select Their Second Driver For 2017 F1 Championship
Force India has signed Esteban Ocon to a multi-year deal beginning from 2017 Formula One season. Ocon will be teaming up with Sergio Perez at Force India, which is a competitive machine.
Sahara Force India confirms that Esteban Ocon will be their second driver in Formula One. Ocon has agreed to a multi-year contract with Force India, which begins with the 2017 season. The team now has the right mix of experience and youth at their disposal.
At Sahara Force India, Esteban Ocon will partner with Sergio Perez. Both drivers will receive adequate support from Mercedes as they are Force India's engine supplier. Perez and Ocon have performed exceptionally well during 2016 and Mercedes could provide updates sooner.
Previously, Esteban Ocon has performed duties of test driver for Force India. Ocon debuted into Formula One at the 2016 Belgian GP with Manor Racing. He has outperformed his teammate Pascal Wehrlein in a short period, thus impressing recruiters in Formula One.
Ocon is a former European Fe and GP3 Champion and is receiving his first full year in Formula One. He was previously linked to joining Renault F1 Team. Unfortunately, the French-based team decided to continue with Jolyon Palmer thus, making Esteban Ocon's decision easier.
Force India is currently fighting with Williams Martini Racing for 2016 Constructors title. As of now, Force India is the fourth best team right behind Scuderia Ferrari. Currently, Force India is the best team amongst the mid-pack and will provide Ocon with a competitive ride for next season.
