Fiat Begins Developing Toro SUV, Is It Coming To India
Fiat recently unveiled its all-new Toro pick-up model for selected markets. Now reports suggest that the Italian manufacturer will use the pick-up truck to develop an SUV model. The all-new Fiat Toro SUV is most likely to make its debut by 2016-end.
The Freemont SUV by Fiat will be replaced with the all-new Toro SUV. In terms of design, Fiat will utilise the Toro pick-up's latest avatar and further enhance it. Designers will aim at providing the Toro SUV with a premium, stylish, and rugged persona.
Powering the Fiat Toro SUV is most likely to be a 1.8-litre petrol engine developing 138bhp. The SUV model will also receive an optional 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170bhp. Both engine options will be shared between Toro pick-up truck and SUV models.
So far, Fiat has not revealed if the Toro SUV will get an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or only Front Wheel Drive (FWD) system. The Italian-based automobile manufacturer has not confirmed the transmission options available in the Fiat Toro as well.
Jeep is supposed to launch the C-SUV in India soon and the Fiat Toro is most likely to share several components between them. There is no information as of now if Fiat will be launching the Toro SUV in India or not. Sales of Fiat have been dwindling and an all-new SUV could improve sales.
