Is Ferrari Working On A New Supercar Platform?
Ferrari has unveiled it's latest flagship, the LaFerrari Aperta, and it is now time for the Italian carmaker to come up with it's next flagship. According to sources, the company is already working on a new supercar platform, that will be the base of upcoming cars from the Italian stable.
The new supercar platform is being developed Altair, Ferrari's trusted engineering partner. The new platform is expected to be 10 percent lighter compared to the present platform, and also offer 20 percent better crash protection.
Ferrari's Director of Innovation, Maximilian Szwaj says that Altair will provide the CAE and CAD solutions for vehicle integration, packaging and manufacturing process.
The Chief Technology Officer at Altair, Royston Jones claims that the new platform will be an outcome of massive deployment of structural optimization and material layout optimization. He also said that the new architecture has an organic nature with the "structure flowing smoothly from sections to joints".
Other details are still top secret, and the new car from the above mentioned platform will be out in a few years from now.
