Datsun Redi-Go Makes Global Debut In India, Bookings Start In May
Datsun has revealed the Redi-Go hatchback to the world in Delhi.
Powering the new Datsun Redi-Go is a 0.8-litre (800cc) engine. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which transmits power to the front wheels.
With regards to the design of the Redi-Go, Datsun has not changed the car much from the concept vehicle seen at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. The design is targeted at buyers in the age group of 25 to 35 years.
Despite the subtle changes, the Redi-Go maintains the styling of the concept with with its angular headlamps flanking the trapezoidal 'D-Cut' grille up front. There are also Daytime Running LEDs embeded into the bumper.
At the sides, the car retains the aggressive character lines that defined the concept vehicle. At the rear, the window sticks out an angle to the rest of the back.
The interior of the car has an understated but rather elegant look to it. The centre console does look quite cool and hosts the entertainment and AC systems.
Datsun claims that the Redi-Go's interior will offer the best in class interior space. The Datsun Redi-Go also offers 185mm ground clearance to ensure that those inside the car don't feel the jolts of the normal Indian roads.
The Redi-Go is the third Datsun car that will run on Indian roads after the Go hatchback and the Go+ MPV. Datsun will start taking bookings for the Redi-Go from May 1 and will start delivering the new car in June.
