The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d is quite a cool looking SUV on its own. Unlike, the AMG fettled models, the GLE 350d looks imposing without being cartoonishly aggressive and packs in a cool amount of torque by itself.
This makes the GLE 350d the perfect blank canvas for tuners around the world to mess around with the SUV's design and add a bit more grunt. All this to satisfy customers who want the SUV look like them (garishly blingy) and go like stink.
Thankfully, the good people at Chrometec, didn't spoil the GLE 350d's imposing looks with their rather restrained take on Merc's diesel SUV.
To live up to their name, the Chrometec GLE 350d does offer a few bling bits like a decorative frame for the headlamps, along with a unique LED projector for Mercedes' star logo. The grille is also available in hand-made carbon fibre.
At the sides, the blingy side skirts double up as steps to enter and exit the SUV. Also present are 22-inch alloy wheels by Concave.
At the rear, the tail lamps are also available with a decorative chrome frame while the spoiler and diffuser like the grille up front are available in hand-made carbon-fibre.
The engine too has been given an upgrade. The turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel V6 and now produces 296bhp and 700Nm of torque, an increase of 41bhp and 80Nm of torque over the regular car.
Chrometec is offering their tuned GLE 350d with a set of €1,390 (Rs. 1.03 lakh) tailpipes that give the tuned Merc SUV a more V8 style grunt.
So if you this tuning kit for your GLE 350d, take yours to them and for a cool €6,219 (Rs. 4.64 lakh), they'll turn yours into a tuned but subtle Merc SUV.
