Chris Harris, the current Top Gear host definitely has a soft spot for cars, the fast ones especially. He has shelled out some crazy bit of money on a very special one — a BMW 1M Coupe.
Speaking about the BMW 1M Coupe, the car is powered by a 3.0-litre twin turbocharged straight six engine that produces 330bhp and 450Nm of peak torque. The BMW 1M can sprint from 0 – 100km/h in 4.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
On Twitter, Chris Harris commented saying, "Always wanted a 1M. Prefer it to the M2, and yes, I paid crazy money for it, but that seems to be the price of them now. Small, angry, ace."
Coming to how much Chris Harris paid for the car, well, the journalist is tight lipped about that. Estimates reveal that the BMW 1M sells for around $50,000 - $60,000, which is the same price as a new BMW M2. In fact, a BMW M2 carries a price tag of $51,700 in the US.
BMW initially wanted to make 2,700 units of the BMW 1M, but looking at its popularity, the German carmaker ended up manufacturing nearly 6,309 cars. Of the cars made in total, 740 units were officially sold in the US and 220 units in Canada.
