China Gets BMW X1 iPerformance Plugin Hybrid
BMW introduces the X1 xDrive25Le iPerformance plugin hybrid which will be launched later in the Chinese market this year. The new X1 hybrid is exclusively built for China with a long wheelbase and powertrain borrowed from the 225xe Active Tourer from Europe.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 134bhp and the electric motor produces nearly 94bhp. BMW claims that the two power plant will provide 385Nm of peak torque. The acceleration figures are not bad at all, 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds.
Hybrid cars are all about fuel economy, and the X1 hybrid won't disappoint you. The economy is rated at 1.8 liter/100km with the electric range set at 60km. The driving range of both combined is 630kms.
The fuel tank capacity is 35 liters and the electric motor uses 10.7 kWh high voltage lithium battery pack. BMW claims that the battery pack can be fully charged in 3.7 hours and it can reach 80 percent charge in just 2.9 hours. The air conditioning system also uses the energy from the battery since it has an electrically-driven compressor.
There are two driving modes when using electric power, Auto eDrive, and Max eDrive. Auto eDrive allows you to hit 80km/h while the Max eDrive up to 120km/h.
