Chevrolet Essentia Compact Sedan Spied Testing In India
Chevrolet's new compact sedan, the Essentia has been spotted testing for the first time in India. The all-new sedan was seen on the streets of Pune.
The compact sedan from Chevrolet is expected to be launched next year in India. With the next generation Beat, on which this sedan is based on was already seen testing in India, both these models are expected to hit Indian market in 2017.
The Chevrolet Essentia compact sedan was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. As mentioned above this sedan is based on the next-gen India-spec Beat hatchback.
When the Essentia made its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, General Motors did not reveal the technical specifications for this compact sedan.
Although the Essentia is likely to get the same 936cc three-cylinder turbocharged diesel mill used in the Beat. Which pumps out 57bhp of power. A 1.2-litre petrol engine is also expected to be available.
Both the engines will be coupled to a five-speed manual transmission which will deliver the power to the front wheels of the car.
The interior of the Essentia features an updated version of the motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster which is seen on the current Beat.
However, the compact sedan is will get a touchscreen Chevrolet MyLink2 infotainment system which is equipped with AndroidAuto and Apple CarPlay technologies.
With the safety features such as - dual airbags and ABS and a reverse parking camera, the compact sedan is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 4 to Rs 7 lakh when it will be launched next year.
